Hi Doc. I have broken my 5th metatarsal bone 6 weeks ago. I have a splint on and never applied weight on my foot.. I went to the doctor today and removed my splint. He now gave me an aircast and told me to wear it for 3 weeks. I am walking around with the aircast but i feel some pain. is that normal?

Hi,

I have studied your case with diligence

Yes pain initially can be there, do not worry.
If pain persist longer than 1 week then you may need to take rest.
Later on start physiotherapy and exercises.
You may need to take vigorous physiotherapy to avoid stiffness.
You can passively stretch fingers to avoid stiffness.

Hope this answers your query. If you have additional questions or follow up queries then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your queries.

Wishing you good health.

Take care.
