Is It Normal To Have Pain And Discomfort In Ear Post Minor Injury?

I went off a tall rope swing a week ago. I hit the water on my side and instantly had head and side pain. This was 7 days ago and I still have pain in my ear and everything sounds quieter and hollow. Also when I blow my noes air comes flying out my ear on the side I hit the water. It s only been 7 days but it hurts. Should I go have it looked at or is this normal when you slap the water from 20+ feet?

Hi,

I cannot say in your particular case and a punctured ear drum can be an opening for infection deep into the ear.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Matt Wachsman, Addiction Medicine Specialist
