Is It Normal To Have Increased Pain After Shifting Bones Post Bunion Surgery?
I had bunion surgery where screws were placed in my foot bone. My pain since the surgery has been extremely tolerable...hardly anything to complain about. 5 weeks post op my crutch slipped and I landed on the foot causing the bones to shift. My doctor was unable to set the bones because there was too much swelling so I am in a cast just below the knee. Although I had an increase in pain it still was bearable. That was a week ago. Last night I was up most of the night with horrible pain in the foot...mostly in the big toe. Today, the pain is not much better. Is this normal to have increased pain?
Normally pain should not increase like this. It can be either due to some infection or loose implant. I would suggest you to show it your surgeon and get a repeat X ray to make sure that there is no failure of implant. Also get your blood investigation to see if there is any infection. If these test come positive and treatment can be done accordingly. For present treatment i would suggest you to take voveron tablet.
