Is It Normal To Have Fever And Cough After Pediarix Vaccination?

Hi.
I got my 13 month old vaccinated with Pediarix, Hib, and Pnuemococcal 4 days ago. She developed the fever (expected), but also has cough and congestion with thick mucus. The cold-like syptoms began the night/early morning following the vaccines. Is this expected after vaccination?

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hello. Thank you for your question. I am sorry your son is not well. Though fever is a potential side effect of any immunization in patients of all ages, cold and cough symptoms are not, as you stated. It is possible he was exposed to a virus prior to the vaccine. Additionally, 4 days of fever is a lot, even for vaccines. So I believe the fever is due not only to the vaccine, but also the upper respiratory infection. If the fever persists any longer, or the respiratory symptoms worsen, I recommend consulting your doctor.
