Is It Normal To Have A Strong Tingling Sensation At The Area Where I Had A Cortisone Injection?

Hello, I'm wondering if it is normal to have a strong tingling sensation at the area where I had a cortisone injection on my right hip for bursitus last Tuesday. I only feel it when I lay down to sleep, and it is quite uncomfortable, and find it hard to sleep.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
The injection in hip joint for bursitis is meant for anti inflammatory/pain relief . It does not have side effect as you describe it.
The tingling sensation you have , can arise from leakage of injection in skin area-which irritates the nerves there.
When you sleep, the pressure due to body weight causes actvation of these nerve endings, giving rise to tingling.
It will go in naturally in few weeks time/ anti inflammatory drug with vitamin B12 will help early recovery .
Thanks
