Is It Normal To Feel Emotionally Numb?

Hi I am on escitalopram 10 mg for the past 12 days or so and find myself feeling emotionally numb - i dont even feel very loving towards my only child - whom i normally love above all. Even the sight of him feeling sick did not move me very much - is this normal?

Hi! Good morning. I am Dr Shareef answering your query.

Even though such side effects are expected in some who take escitalopram, if I were your doctor, I would refer you to your treating doctor/psychiatrist without any delay to avoid any further deterioration in your present problem.

I hope this information would help you in discussing with your family physician/treating doctor in solving this problem. Thanks for using the healthcare magic forum for your health query. Wishing you an early recovery. Dr Shareef.
