Is It Normal To Experience Shortness Of Breath And Restricted Breathing After An Injury To Chest?

I was hit in the chest last week by a shoulder while playing basketball. Thursday and Friday my chest felt very bruised and restricted some movement and I was getting short of breath quickly. Now, the bruising and movement restriction have gone but I'm still getting out of breath easily.

Hello and welcome to HCM,
Shortness of breath/dyspnea, restricted chest movements and bruising of the chest could be due to the injury that you sustained.
The trauma could lead to soft tissue and bone injuries.
You need to get a CT scan of the chest to look for any injuries in the chest.
Rib fractures are silent and produce only pain and restricted movements.
The management will depend on the type of lesion present.
Consult your physician for clinical examination, relevant investigations and management.

Thanks and take care
