Is It Normal To Experience Itching After Using Ear Wax Softening Agent?

Hi, I ve had a blocked right ear for a few days now. I ve been using ear wax softening agents and just today I noticed tiny spots of blood from within my ear after wiping with a tissue. The softening agents usually cause a lot of itching but I want to make sure this is normal

Hi,

Sensation of blockage in the ears could be due to various causes including hard wax in the ear. The tiny spots of blood that you saw after wiping with a tissue may not actually be blood but liquefied wax due to the wax softening drops that you used. Its not common to experience itching during usage of ear drops. If the sensation of blockage persists, I suggest you consult an ENT specialist who could remove the wax from your ears.

Thank you
Dr. Prasad
