Is It Normal To Be In A Boot After Diagnosed Buckle Fracture Of Tibia Near Knee?

My 5 year old daughter was diagnosed with a buckle fracture of the tibia near the knee. He did not opt for a cast but put her in a boot instead. How does a boot that nly comes up mid-shin help a fracture near the knee? And is it normal not to treat this type of fracture?

I do not think this is right method. It is ok if he is not having any plaster but it is better to have splint. This will give her faster healing and it will also provide her pain relief. This is to be there for 3 weeks. During this type give her calcium syrup.
