Is It Normal For MRI Technicians To Check For The Previous History Of Injuries?

Is it normal for an mri technician to stopin the middle of a scan to ask if you are sure you never had surgery on the site being scanned? Two technicians double checked with me during my son's mri if I was absolutely sure he had never had surgery or a prior injury.

Welcome to health care magic.

1.MRI - large magnet is used in this machine to scan specific locations.
2.In presence of any metal in or on the body will cause disturbance during scanning.
3.And will cause not able to see any thing in and around that area.
4.If you are sure that there is no procedure done - that there could be some error with the machine - if it is normal with next patient then.
5.It can be confirmed by an x-ray which will detect presence of any metal object.

Good luck.
Hope i have answered your query,
any thing to ask ? do not hesitate to ask.
