General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Stockings are asked to be worn due to poor blood flow back to the heart from the veins in legs. If you don't wear them then there may be pooling of blood in your veins and it would cause pain and swelling of legs and feet. I recommend you to wear them and if you are not able to manage with it then you should consult your treating doctor for an alternative.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Anoop Kumar, General & Family Physician
