Is It Necessary To Consult A Doctor As Soon As Pregnancy Is Detected?
Iam about 5 weeks pregnant and haven t see a doctor yet. I don t have a family doctor but I know if I go the walk in its just to refer me out. Can I wait another 2 weeks before iam seen? its not crucial to go A.S.A.P is it? iam in a rural area and an hour drive just for a referral seems like a wasted trip unless I need to go into town for something eles. Candace Age 33 2nd pregnancy
Hello Candace I can understand your concern As soon as pregnancy confirms, you must immediately consult a gynaecologist for registration of pregnancy, examination and a battery of investigation like blood for hemoglobin, CBC Blood sugar screening for STI like hepatitis B, HIV and VDRL test as well as an ultrasound scan you also need a tetanus vaccine. So in my opinion you should immediately visit a doctor Don't wait to club it with other purpose
Have folic acid daily Green leafy vegetables fresh fruits and good balanced diet is recommended Hope this answers your question Best wishes
