Is It Medically Advisable To Take 1/3 Of A 300mg Tablet Everyday?

I take Invokana 100MG. My insurance company charges the same for the 100MG pill and the 300MG pill ($75 for a 3- day supply. It would save me over $600/yr to get the 300MG pill and divide it into 3 parts. Is that medically advisable. My doctor says he has no problem prescribing 1/3 tablet per day.

Dear Friend.
Hi , I am Dr Anshul Varshney , I have read your query in detail , I understand your concern.
I personally don't think there should be a problem , until and unless the tablet form is made by only single composition (drug). If there is no coating over it , it can be taken in 1/3rd dose.
But as your doctor has prescribed you the medicine , he knows about the pharamaceutical company and about the particular brand , so , advisable to take his opinion.
This is my personal opinion based on details available here. If you want to discuss your issues further, you may please ask us
