Is It Essential To Remove Stitches From A Deep Cut After Few Days To Facilitate Pus Drainage?

My son is 9 yrs old..he got 10 stitches on forehead above right eyebrow after a deep cut he received after 2 days lot of pus oozed doc. Removed some pus and gave strong antibiotic and said his stitches will have to be removed since they will now of no use and will block the pus...how should I go about it?

Hi. Thanks for posting your concern at HCM

I agree with your doctor absolutely. Any pus in the wound needs to be drained by removing the stitches and allowing the wound to heal by secondary intention.

He needs to be put on antibiotic for the infection to heal as has rightly been done by your treating doctor
