Is It Concerning If The Child Still Has Vision Problem Even After The Fever Is Gone?

My 4 year old daughter had a fever the last 36 hrs and threw up one time. She also complains of a sore throat, says that water/apple juice tastes yucky and shakes when she moves and walks. She started complaining of not being able to see when we were reading books last night and I thought it would maybe go away after she slept. She is still complaining that she cant see and says that things look like water . The fever is gone, but sore throat is still here...should I worry about her vision?

Ophthalmologist 's  Response
Hi, I am Dr. Richa.I am a pediatric ophthalmologist. . I understand your worry for the daughter. Fever along with complaint of diminision of vision in kidscan be associated with certain kind of infections and may follow vaccination sometimes. Such infections affect the eye nerve. But whether this is the case in your kid can only be confirmed after proper evaluation of nerve/ retina. The good news is that even it is there, it is self resolving in almost all in case of children. But an evaluation is required at hospital.By visiting doctor , You will be able to rule out malingering which can also be a possibility.Take care.
