Is Hygienic Environment Advisable Around A Klebsiella Pneumonia Patient?

Husband is 53 and had total gastrectomy with part of transverse colon and esophagus removed. Came home with a chest tube and gastric feedings and developed putrid empyema and is now in hospital with klebsiella pneumoniae. Pulmonary surgeon is treating him with heavy antibiotics instilled directly into the lung with possible surgery in future to the lung. Surprised they are not using gowns and gloves around him. Also very concerned about sepsis. I am an RN and would appreciate your thoughts. Thanks.
