Is Giving Albuterol Safe For Cold And Cough In Infants?
Hello Doctor, My 2 year old daughter has cold and cough. Can I give her albutamol, which was prescribed in previous visiting. Also she doesn't eat properly and once doctor told she may have Iron deficiency. Would please advise right vegetarian foods to increase immune and Iron. Thanks much in advance!!!
Understanding your concern. As per your query your infant has symptoms of cold and cough which is due to viral infection or upper respiratory tract infection. Albuterol as suggested to you by doctor is a safe medication and it can be given to your child. You have to monitor dose and give it after every 6 hrly. Along with that you have to give tepid cold sponging to your child. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to visit pediatrician once and get it examined if symptoms keeps on persisting. The most common side effects of Meftal-P are gastritis, abdominal discomfort, bleeding, so it should not given on empty stomach and the duration of treatment should not be long. You should go for blood test and sputum test as well to find out proper diagnosis and start treatment accordingly.
Understanding your concern. As per your query your child has cold and cough which seems to be due to chest infection/ chronic upper respiratory tract infection. It seems to be due to poor immunity of body. You can give Albuterol , but be care full about dosage or consult doctor . I would suggest you to take nasal sprays and do warm saline gargles. Visit pediatrician once and get it examined. Doctor may prescribe medication of Azithromycin tablet along with Colgin plus. You should get throat swab test, chest x-ray and blood test done and start treatment after proper prescription. You should take cough syrup on daily basis. . You should take antibiotic Levofloxacin in combination with antiallergic medicationLevocetirizine.
