Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I started taking Bactrim June 1 for a Staf infection 6 weeks after Cervical Fusion(ACFD) and am having to urinated frequently. Up to 4-5 times per night. Also have the sensation to pee throught out the day. I am drinking more water, but the frequency is troubling. Is this a common side effect? Will it abate once the RX is completed? Does or Can Bactrim cause permanent bladder changes or damage?
** 1. Frequent urination with Bactrim has been reported by people with associated high blood pressure, dyslipidemia, depression, GERD, thus make sure you are not affected with any such problem but you should consult with your doctor to rule out any other urinary tract infection.
2. ADR [adverse drug reaction] of Bactrim is renal failure which can/may alter the frequency of urine thus check with your health care provider or consult a Nephrologist for test like: blood urea/serum creatinine and ultrasonography of kidney.
