Is Flight Travel Advisable For A Person With Elevated Blood Pressure?

BF has had BP of 170/130 for the past two weeks (no change, even after cutting out all alcohol, adjusting diet). He thought the adjustments would lower it, and it didnt. We are going on a plane tomorrow for a vacation, should I be concerned about traveling? He has a DR appt when we get back (just gone 3 days), but I am really nervous about this.

Hi Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern...

No any type of travel is not advisable for a person with elevated blood pressure of 170/130 mm hg. This is too much high blood pressure & it can be dangerous as it can cause brain haemorrhage, cardiac arrest or other serious complication. He should wait for his Blood pressure to get normalized then he could plan some vacation.
Also I want to tell you this blood pressure of 170/130 mmHg would not come to normal by adjusting diet, alcohol reduction, etc. Blood pressure lowering medicines should be given. Low salt diet is also advised.

Refer to a physician
Hope this information helps
