Is Excessive Exercise Advisable When Diagnosed With Rheumatoid Arthritis?

I have rheumatoid arthritis, and I am working out 4-5 days a week. I want to know if it is okay for me to take bcaas during my workout to help repair my muscles quicker? And I also wanted to know if it is okay for me to follow my workout with a protein shake? I will not stop working out, I use light weights. I want results and stronger muscles to help protect my joints. I am taking xeljanz 11mg tablets once daily. I am only 23.

Hi,

You can do simple stretching and cardio exercises.

Avoid strenuous exercise as it can worsen the joints and may cause a flare-up of the disease.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
