Is Elevation In BP Level A Cause For Concern?

My BP is 166/116. I have eaten bacon and baby back ribs in my meals today and that was only two meals. The last one was 3 and a half hrs ago and I just finished a menthol cigarette. Should I keep checking every 30 minutes before I run off to the er or go NOW?

I would suggest you to go now. The blood pressure is too high and I would not let my patient be in home while they re reading above 110 diastolic. If you are having any symptoms like headache, giddiness; reporting to ER as soon as possible becomes much more important.
The description regarding hypertensive status is not mentioned. In any scenario, you will be given medications to get down the blood pressure down over a short period of time. Then you might be put on long term medications for blood pressure control. Do follow the instructions as given by your treating physician to keep the blood pressure under control.
I hope the above information helps you. Thanks for writing into healhtcaremagic.
