hi
thank you for asking your concern and welcome to HCM. i would like to clear your doubt about eczema that it is not contagious. unless eczema get secondary bacterial or fungal infection it is noncontagious. but it is familial. it is not rule of thumb but there are certain chances that your one of child may develop eczema. but thumb is not the usual site of developing eczema so i would like to suggest to wait for 2 or 3 days to see whether it subsides by its own or it is showing some changes.better to rule out fungal infection or scabies by consulting your doctor if it spreads or showing some changes.
feel free to ask any doubt.
regards
dr. abhijit
