Is Delayed Period While On Contraceptive Pills A Symptom Of Pregnancy?

I started a Perle LD on June 3, when my period started. I took all the white pills, even though I missed some days. I stopped taking the pills when it reach the red ones. I saw some spotting for a day. It is now July 10 and I have not seen my period. Is it possible that I m pregnant? I had unprotected sex a day or two after missing pills.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I have read your description and understand your concern.
Irregular intake of birth control pills always carries a risk of pregnancy if adequate precautions are not taken.
Also, it is recommended to properly use other modes of contraception during the beginning month of pill intake, like condoms and spermicides.
If you do not take the pill at regular time daily, there is a risk of pregnancy.
However, you may wait for about 10 days for periods to happen this time.
In case it is delayed beyond 10 days, you need to take urine pregnancy test and seek medical attention promptly.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
