General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

I-pill is an emergency contraceptive pill. Such pill needs to be taken within 72 hours of unprotected intercourse to prevent unwanted or accidental pregnancy. The pill would help to prevent pregnancy by causing breakthrough bleeding within 3 weeks from the day of its intake.

Accordingly, your period schedule of dates could alter by getting advanced or getting postponed. If the bleeding does not happen by 3 weeks, you need to take a urine pregnancy test and seek medical attention promptly.

Hope the information provided would be helpful. Let me know if I can assist you further.

All the best.

Regards,
Dr. Ashakiran S
