General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
Thank you for your query.

Would you please clarify a few things for me?
-did the diarrhea start all of a sudden or did it worsens gradually?
-any history of travel before the symptoms started?
-where do you live?
-how old are you?
-any other medical issues or medications?
-any major change in diet?
-how is the diarrhea? Watery or semisolid? With mucus/blood? What is the color? Any foul smell?
-any fever or stomach ache?vomiting?

I recommend :
-a stool analysis to check for bacteria and parasites and stool culture
-blood tests (complete blood count, blood culture, CRP, liver and kidney function tests)
-a colonoscopy if Indicated.

-a course of antibiotics (ciprofloxaxin with metronidazole) as empirical therapy for 10 days or till results arrive (whichever is sooner)
-probiotics to help restore normal intestinal bacteria.
-avoid milk and irritants like spicy food, caffeine, sugar and carbonated drinks
-moderate fiber intake.

Hope this helps.
Please let me know if there is anything else I can help you with.
Wish you good health
