Is Cervical Cancer Curable?

I am a 42 year old woman with a past history of endometriosis. Just last week I had a loop/leep procedure done with some of the cervix removed as it had higher grade cells up higher into the cervix whereas the entrance to the cervix had low level grade pre-cancer cells. Now, I have 4-6 weeks to wait to see if the piece of cervix they removed is malignant- Is cervical cancer treatable only if found early?-

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Your precancerous tissue was localized. There is no sign that cancer has spread outside of the cervix or uterus. This includes stage I cancers. It has around 95 per cent and 5 years survival rate. As your state has been detected early so you have good chances of complete cure. Be assured.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. AJEET SINGH, General & Family Physician
