Is Bypass Or Angioplasty Necessary To Ease Uneasiness While Climbing Stairs?

My father aged 53 had gone through engiography today. Reports shows following; LEFT MAIN - Normal LAD -Type III & classified vessel. Proximal LAD shows long 90% stenosis. LCX - Non - dominant & normal vessel RCA - Dominant vessel. Proximal to mid RCA shows 90% stenosis followed by distal 90% stenosis. lLIMA/RIMA - Normal COMMENTS - IHD. LAD 90%, RCA 90%. He only feels uneasiness while climbing stairs. Rest of the time there is no pain or uneasiness. My question is do we need to perform Bypass or engioplasty or it can be cured with medicine?

Hello welcome to HCM.
I have read your question and understand your concerns.
Your father has 2 major blockages in 2 arteries, one of which (LAD) is a main and major artery. He should undergo for treatment on priority basis without delay. Preferably bypass surgery over angioplasty even if he has minimal symptoms.

My advice to you is -

1. Actually you should mention if he is suffering from any other disease or not (e. g. Diabetes). The other thing is ideally we can give final answer by seeing your C. D of Angiography.

2.Usually when diffuse 90% blockage in proximal LAD is there along with 90% blockage in other artery - CABG (bypass surgery is a better option). However angioplasty can be done in both artery provided the information about how are your arteries and whether the blockages are calcified in what extent.

3.So,both options can be beneficial, bypass is a better option though. But you have to consult a cardiologist personally with CD of angiography for further assistance.
Thank you.
Have a nice day.
