Hello, I have been having so many health problems for the past two years. Hospitalized several times due to the severe pain and yet still don t have a defined diagnosis. I m wondering if what I have could be acidosis? My symptoms: Burning eyes, severely chapped lips, burning urination, burning bowel movements. It is as if everything that comes out of my body is acidic. Through diligence with my specialists we have learned that taking a prescription anti-acid does a lot to help the upper body symptoms (lips and eyes) and slightly helps the lower body symptoms as well, but not as much. Currently, the only diagnosis I have is IBS? But I really don t think this is an accurate diagnosis. The other people with IBS that I speak to don t have symptoms entirely similar to mine. And no one else with IBS reports the urinary or upper body symptoms that I do. For what it is worth, I do have a long history of sedative drug and alcohol abuse. Though I am now drug free for almost a year my symptoms have not improved. I will be seeing another specialist this week and I want to maybe bring up the question of acidosis.
