General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
A single rise of blood pressure value can never be a diagnosis for hypertension or elevated blood pressure. However a value of 140above is a significant rise in the blood pressure.
I would advise you to remeasure your blood pressure at home and at different settings for eg at your work. If the readings are consistently over 130/80 then you might be having underlying hypertension.
Hypertension can cause the symptoms you mentioned like dizziness, headache etc.
If your blood pressure is not beyond the cut off mentioned above then it might be an emotional response that triggered a change in blood pressure or a simple instrumental error.
If your blood pressure is consistently high consult your physician for medications as they need prescripriton and make some life style changes like diet and physical activity.
