Is Blood Discharge Due To Lovenox Injections During Pregnancy?

I am 8 weeks pregnant. I have been taking Lovenox injections once a day from the begining. Friday I found some blood when I wiped myself. Today when I gave my urine sample at the office it was as red a fruit punch. Could this be from the lovenox? My doctor said my cervix is still closed and everything looks good. I am worried it could be something more serious.

Hello,

Bleeding is a risk with any anticoagulant (Lovenox). Management of bleeding depends on the degree and site of bleeding and the original indication for anti-coagulation and decisions regarding discontinuation and reversal of anticoagulants. You may experience abnormal bleeding from your gum, nose skin also if you have side effects of anti-coagulation drug. During pregnancy the first 12 weeks you may experience vaginal spot bleeding without pain. The light bleeding during the first trimester there are a few reasons: implantation bleeding is when the fertilised egg is embedding into the wall of the womb.

Sometimes the color is pinkish and brown. Pregnancy can cause changes to cervix by hormone, which can sometimes cause bleeding. The cervix get increased blood supply and become softer. This can cause some bleeding after sex. But sometimes vaginal bleeding also can caused by infection. In this case your doctor will in your cervix and decide what more evaluation he or she will do.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
