Is Bathing With Dettol Safe For Toddlers?

My son is 2 years and he still wears a nappy. He has been touching his penis saying it is hot the whole day today. On examination I could not see any rash or anything abnormal. His nanny has indicated that he bathed him with dettol today. Could it be where the problem is? How safe is dettol on toddlers?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello there I have read through your question and understand your concern. Dettol is a strong disinfectant but I wouldn't advise you to use it on toddler s. A toddlers skin is sensitive so it is better to use a mild soap for bathing or cleaning them . Wash his penis with warm water and make sure to keep him dry. If he keeps on complaining of burning sensation consult his paediatrician. I hope that answers your question. If you have any further questions please feel free to write. Thank you for choosing healthcare magic.
