Is Apicoectomy Advisable For A Tooth Causing Persistent Pain?

Hello, I have a question regarding my failed root canal So the problem started few years back when I had a hole in my tooth , it was cleaned and sealed but my tooth continued to ache and I eventually had my root canal done and still after root procedure I had continued to feel my tooth pain and a couple of weeks back I had my root canal retreatment AGAIN , but still I now have even worse pain when something is getting in touch with my tooth . So now I want to know is there a point of doing an apicoectomy or should I just take my tooth out and have an implant . I already spent enough money, I don t want to continue doing it for nothing . Thank you in advance

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain it seems that Apicoectomy is the treatment of the tooth in a retrograde manner that is through the root potion of the tooth..
It is done in certain conditions in which there is intact coronal [crown] portion of the tooth..

As far as pain in your tooth is concerned, that is painful even after repeated root canals, needs to be evaluated by an Endodontist and after proper x ray only a proper course of treatment can be decided..

In case if your root canal treatment is otherwise intact and there is infection present below the root tips or there is formation of any cyst or abscess then apicoectomy can be planned of.
If it is still doubtful then extraction of tooth followed by implant is appropriate option..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
