Hi; Aortic dissection is a very serious and mortal condition which is caused by multiple factors such as atherosclerosis, hypertension, genetic diseases etc. It is commonly occured in elders who are prone to both hypertension and generalized atherosclerosis. However; dissection in young people is rare but possible. Patient you described is consistent with Marfan syndrome. Patients with Marfan syndrome (who are also quite tall) have problems related with connective tissue which is very important for fortifying arterial walls. Due to impaired connective tissues, they are prone to aortic dilatation and dissections in early period of their lives. Cardiac and ocular abnormalities are also expected.
