My daughter is 14 months old and had croup about 7 weeks ago, for which she was given an anti-viral medication at a and e, where we took her as she was struggling to breathe. Since then she has had a severe cold and now has a terrible cough, particularly at night, which causes her to gasp for breath and is very alarming and upsetting for her. We wrap her up and stand her in the doorway as cold damp air seems to help and she has a cold water vaporiser on in her room, which we keep at about 20 degrees. Is there anything I can give her to help the cough or is it possibly a chest infection? I would prefer a natural remedy.
