Is Ankle Pain A Symptom Of Arthritis?

Hello. I was in a car accident and my ankle was broken. The bone came through the skin. I had to get 2 metal plates and 6 screws to fix my ankle. Now I have sharp pains in my ankle. It s been a year since the surgery. Is this normal? Could I have arthritis?

Hi
Thanks for posting on HCM
Ankle pain a year after fracture could be due to arthritis. However, a more probable cause is a callus since it is common after fractures especially when bones are not well positioned at surgery. Also, another possible cause is strain/stress on joint from your daily activities.I will suggest you take a pain medication like ibuprofen, rest well and observe. If the pain persist, you take an ankle X-ray and see your Doctor for evaluation.
Hope my answer will help you
Best regards
