Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My child has an ESR level of 30. She was tested (the ESR as well as regular blood tests and a flu test) because she was running a fever of 101 and complained of sore muscles. She had some ibuprofen about 4 hours ago and has been feeling fine since. How concerned should we be about the ESR level?
Hi, Welcome to Healthcare Magic Forum. I have gone through your Query & I really appreciate your concern about the problem you are facing.
As a physician I would like to tell you that The erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) is a commonly performed test but is very nonspecific, which means that having a high ESR does not necessarily tell your physician what is wrong, only that something may be wrong. The ESR is a marker of inflammation, so it can be high with infections and also other types of inflammation. Fever is a common symptom that occurs with an elevated ESR.
Thus I would like to say that you need not to worry about anything and as her fever goes away, her ESR values will come back to normal and there will be nothing to worry about.
Thanks for Trusting & Posting your Query on this forum. Hope this will help you. Feel free to ask any further question. Have a nice Day.
Regards, Dr.Abhijeet
