Is Aggression A Side Effect Of Depakote?

my daughter is 12 years old on dekapote for mood disorder. i will consult with her daughter tomorrow but i think this medicine is causing her to act some aggressive in her behavior and want to discountinue taking it. Do you know anything about this drug.

I understand your concern. Depakote, a drug primarily used in epileptic disorders and migraine headaches, is also prescribed for mood disorders. With a long list of side effects, it is not an easy drug, especially for a 12 year old. Aggressive behavior is not a specifically referred side effect, however, Depakote is known to cause changes of personality, where aggression is part of the symptoms. I would definitely talk to her doctor and inform them about this problem. Based on your daughter's medical history, her doctor will be able to make the right adjustments to her treatment.
