Is Accidental Double Dosage Intake Of Amoxicillin A Cause For Concern?

I took 2 500mg amoxcillin tablets together at lunch time by accident, I m supposed to take one tablet 3 times a day at least 4 hours apart. As I ve already taken 3 today do I still take another one and is there any problems from taking two together by accident? Also, am I allowed to consume any alcohol on these antibiotics?

Hello,

I can understand your concern. As you have already taken three tablets today, do not take it again until tomorrow. One extra pill will not cause any severe side effects. Try to drink lots of water so it does not cause any damage kidney. However, if you develop symptoms like confusion, rashes or behavior changes, you should contact a doctor or visit emergency room immediately.

It is safe to take alcohol even if you are on Amoxicillin as Amoxicillin and alcohol are not proved to interact with each other in any harmful way.
