Is A White Bump On The Tonsil A Symptom Of An STD?

Hi I ve noticed having this white bump on my tonsil that formed yesterday. I started to have a sore throat 2 days ago and I knew a cold was coming along which was followed by a sore throat. The reason why I m worried is because I performed oral on my girlfriend that same night I felt the pain coming so I m not sure if I have an std or just a sore throat. I also have cold symptoms like runny nose.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

As per your case history you are having herpes infection due to oral sex. My treatment advice is -

1. Drink plenty of water and avoid spicy foods.
2. Apply an acyclovir ointment twice daily on it.
3. Take an antihistamine medication like Levocetirizine for itching and NSAID like Ibuprofen for pain. If problem persists then consult a dermatologist.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
