Is A Red, Sore, Puss Oozing Lump Under The Chest Indicative Of Infected Cyst?

My husband has had a lump under his chest for the past 20+ years. In the past week, it appears to have become infected. It is red and sore and it began oozing some pus-like discharge that smells really bad. Do you this this is a sebaceous cyst? He has a doctor s appointment on Monday. Do you think he should go in sooner than that? I worry that he might become septic get some sort of infection.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
From history it seems that he might have sebaceous cyst and now get infected producing swelling, pain and oozing cheesy material from cyst.
Nothing to worry, consult your doctor on scheduled time and get examined.
Meanwhile do dressing with antiseptic lotion after proper cleaning the wound.
It might require excision of cyst with removal of sac.
Ok and take care.
