Is A Pea Sized Bump Close To The Anus A Perianal Hematoma Or A Hemorrhoid?

I have a small, pea-sized bump near my anus on the right side and I m wondering whether it is a perianal hematoma, hemmoroids or something more serious. It seems about 50% inside/50% outside. There was a very slight amount of bright red blood two times a few days after I first noticed it and the colour of the bump itself seems to have lightened from a purplish to resembling more or less the same colour as the surrounding tissue. There is no pain at all, just a sense of something being there. I don t even feel anything besides an itchiness sometimes and it s not solid just fleshy and slightly stiff.

Hi,

From your explanation, it seems that you are suffering from Hemorrhoids also known as Piles and the symptoms of bump sticking out from anus along with itching and blood on seems to be due to it.

Haemorrhoids are inflamed and swollen veins that are formed when there is continuous irritation of the veins present in the rectum area and inflammation can lead to pain and bleeding during bowel evacuation.

Consult a Proctologist and get evaluated and a clinical evaluation can be done for diagnosis.

In case if piles are confirmed then you can be advised:

-Application of steroid and numbing ointment like Anovate ointment.

-Sitz bath that is sitting in warm water tub especially after bowels.

-High fibre diet along with laxatives like Polyethylene glycol and stool softeners like Docusate to maintain proper bowels.

-Avoid spicy food and drink plenty of water.

-In case of no improvement with medical treatment, you can be advised surgical procedures like Rubber band ligation, sclerotherapy or Hemorrhoidectomy that is surgical removal of the haemorrhoids.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
