Is A Missed Period Side Effect Of Topical Steroid Injections?
Had steroid injection in abdomen in incision site from surgery to help decrease scarring. Also, been on birth control but the past 2 months I have forgotten some pills, to take them the following morning or later that night 2 together. I am on day 6 of reminder pills and still no period. Took pregnancy test yesterday and it said negative. Could the topical steroid injections result in a missed period? Or if I have a chance of being pregnant and the hormone just isn t enough to show up on a at-home pregnancy test yet, do I start the new pack on Monday like planned?
Topical steroid injections can affect menstrual periods and make them irregular, prolonged and sometimes heavier. This may be happened after use of topical steroid injections. Almost all pregnancy tests include instructions that encourage you to wait at least one week between a negative test result and taking another pregnancy test. But, If you believe the pregnancy test is indicating a false negative and that you are pregnant, you should consult your doctor. They can conduct an hCGblood test, which is more sensitive to lower levels of hCG hormone than the hCG urine test. You should also consult your doctor before start taking the new packet of birth control pills.
Take care. Hope I have answered your questions. Let me know if I can assist you further.
