Is A Low Liver Enzyme Count A Cause For Concern?

I just got back some blood test results. Everything was normal except my liver enzyme number is 86. My doctor told me to stop drinking anything and retest in a week. I plan to do that but I also had a serious back injury in March. And while it is much better now, I have taken a lot of Ibuprofen, Tylenol and Vicodin. How worried should I be about that number? M back injury is 3 bulging discs pinching the nerve that runs down my leg, causing my leg to sometimes give away and a big fall. Most recently on some stairs. Is it possible to bruise a liver?

Hi Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern...

No abnormal liver enzyme levels should not be related to bruise due to trauma from fall. However it might be related to long term intake of Ibuprofen, Tylenol and Vicodin that you have been taking for the injury. These medicines are metabolized in liver, therefore their intake can cause elevation in liver enzymes level. Now as the medicines have been stopped your liver enzyme levels would become normal with time.
Other reason for abnormal liver enzyme level is alcohol intake as mentioned by your doctor. You should stop alcohol intake completely till it become normal.

Refer to your physician
Don't worry you would be okay
Hope this information helps
