Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
i have herniations at l4-l5 and l5-s1 with an MRI conclusion as follows.. 1 mod size central disk herniation at l4-l5 with compression of the thecal sac and effacement of the cerebrospinal fluid space around the nerve roots at this level .. 2 slightly smaller but broader based disk herniation at l5-s1 extending from the right lateral recess to the left paracentral region. this does not cause compression of the thecal sac but causes mild narrowing of the right lateral recess. this is also mild to moderate bilateral neural foraminal narrowing at l5-s1 related to the disk space narrowing, diffuse disk bulging, and endplate osteophyte formation. this is slightly more prominent on the right than on the left.. 3 loss of the normal lumbar lordisis likely related to muscle spasm.. my question is as follows... at the age of 34 i wonder if this is a result of genetics or may it also be atributed to wear and tear from a very labor intensive job?
