hello,
i can understand your concern.
fever, chills and headaches do indicate flu.
if the temp is more than 102f, he feels lethargic and dull, has breathing problem take him to a doctor.
flu usually goes in couple of days with rest and paracetamol. give him plenty of fluids to drink.
if you live in a area where malaria is common, kindly get a malaria test done too.
hope i have answered your query
wishing your son a speedy recovery.
