Is Zinnat Tablet The Right Medicine For Strep Throat And Fever?

Hi. I have strep throat with fever. I ve been taking zinnat 500mg antibiotic since 3 days but I still have fever. Does that mean it s not working for me and I have to change to another antibiotic? If not do I need a single course of zinnat or two courses to treat strepthroat?

Thanks for posting in HCM.
Zinnat Tablets 500 mg contains 'Cefuroxime' which belongs to a group of antibiotics called Cephalosporin. It is an antibiotic which works by killing bacteria that cause infections. It is used commonly to treat infections of throat, sinus, middle ear and lungs or chest.
You need to continue the full course of antibiotics what you have started with. You need to take tablet Paracetamol for fever.
Your symptoms should gradually subside with this treatment.
In case, the response is not good even after the course of antibiotics, you need to get a throat swab culture and sensitivity test and then take an appropriate course of antibiotics. Do not switch over antibiotics in between the treatment and without proper investigations.
