Hi, my name is Johnny. I recently been diagnosed with DVT&PE A small clot was found in my right lung. Leg swollen. I came out of the hospital 15 days ago. On Xarelto & Diabetic diet. I m only 33yrs old. Can I go back to work in a month time? I walk an average of 6 to 10 miles at work per 8hr shift... What s the success rate of Xarelto? Would you recommend a different drug? Or is this one OK.
Hello welcome to 'Ask A Doctor' service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advise.
You have been diagnosed with deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism. For that the prescribed medication that is rivaroxaban is right drug to prevent and treat pulmonary embolism. Apixaban is newest drug with less chance of bleed and considered superior drug over Rivaroxaban. Anyway you can take Rivaroxaban as well as per your doctor advise.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Parth Goswami
