Is Tranexamic Acid Effective In The Treatment Of Heavy Vaginal Bleeding?

I have heavy withdrawal bleeding n severe period paid after taking off noristherone...is this normal and how long will it last. I was prescribed with the pill due to prolonged period which lasted over 15days...and took 2 x 5mg daily for 5 days..the doc also prescribed me woth transemic acid..is it ok to take it bow to decrease the bleed..?

Hi I think you can take tranexamic acid 500mg 3 times a day for 3 to 5 days to reduce the bleeding. If it doesn't work, you may need high dose of progesterone to stop the bleeding. Get a thyroid profile and prolactin level and a ultrasound done to see uterus and ovaries to find out the cause of heavy bleeding during periods. Hope it helps.
