Hi,

Sinemet contains Carbidopa and Levodopa which helps to maintain the depleted Dopamine levels in parkinsonism. Levodopa maintains Dopamine in the brain while Carbidopa prevents the peripheral breaking down of the Dopamine. So more Levodopa can enter the brain. It has a dual action, but you have to talk to your neurologist to get this drug prescribed because different patients will require a different type of antiparkinsons drug.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Melita Wesley,
