Is Sertraline the same product as Zoloft? I think the brand name product is better in quality ingredients, true or false? Generics can have more side efects and not so efficient, what is your opinion??? I just want the best and safer. Thank you for your assistance

Hi friend,

Zoloft is the brand name drug of sertraline. Brand name product have higher regulation compared to generic. Thus, brand name product often have lesser degree in the fluctuation of side effect. The active ingredient in both generic and brand name is the same.

Both brand name and generic drug are safe with the same indication for treatment. The only clinical exception is with drugs with very small dosage, in which brand name is superior to generic.
